14.INFORMATIONANDDATA 14.1 SOCIAL MEDIA If you choose to use social media sites outside of work such as Facebook,Twitter, Instagram etc, you must ensure you do not put Byron’s reputation into disrepute and keep confidentiality at all times. Code of conduct We believe it is important to hear your views, so we can act on them; however it’s equally important for you to express your views in the right way. Below are basic standards of conduct we expect: • Responsibility  By posting your views, thoughts or feelings on the internet though social media, Byron believes you should take responsibility for what you say and to whom you say it to and against. • Respect  Our business is built on mutual trust and respect, and we would ask that you take this into account when posting any views, thoughts or feelings. Any offensive or abusive messages on social media about any employees of Byron, guests or suppliers could result in disciplinary action taken. • Communication  Any social media is a powerful communication tool and we want to use our social media for the same open two-way communication. If, however you have a problem at work, we would rather you spoke to us directly to discuss this rather than posting your problem on a social media site, this way we can help to resolve the issue with you quickly and directly. If you require any further information, please refer to the Byron Email and Internet Policy. We have a Byron People Facebook page and often upload any pictures of training sessions and company events. As a result, your picture could end up being on our Facebook group. If you do not wish for this to happen, please notify your Line Manager or the People team. 14.2 PUBLICITY Not all publicity is good publicity. Do not make any comments to the press or media regarding anything about, or connected to, Company business. Refer people to Berners Street, without making any comments, and they’ll will sort this for you. If you purposely put Byron’s reputation into disrepute it may result in formal disciplinary action being taken. Please refer to the Media Policy and guidelines for further details. 37 SECURITYANDSAFETYcontinued 13.4 CASHING UP AND BANKING PROCEDURES Cashing up, banking, accounting and reporting procedures are set out in each restaurant using the most up-to-date systems, these must be strictly followed.The procedure can only be changed when put in writing from Berners Street. The ‘borrowing’ of money from the till or the takings is strictly forbidden and will be regarded as gross misconduct. In all but the most exceptional circumstances, this may result in summary dismissal. 13.5 STOCK CONTROL If you’re asked to do a stock report, make sure you’re as accurate in your calculations as you can be. •  If you find any stock shortages (+/-£10), it must be investigated and there must be evidence of an investigation must be provided •  Failure to complete stock records accurately is a serious disciplinary issue •  If you take or use Company stock for your own benefit, or sell your own goods or drink to our guests, you may be liable for summary dismissal •  If there’s a stock shortage during a shift when you’re working, we reserve the right to deduct the retail value of the shortfall from your wages 36
